The History of Tagel Secondary School: A Legacy of Excellence
Founding and Academic Milestones
Tagel Secondary School is one of the six secondary schools in our district, standing as a pillar of education since its elevation to secondary status in 1972 E.C. (1979/80 G.C.).
The school reached a historic milestone in 1975 E.C. when it sat its first batch of Grade 12 students for the national exams. Over the decades, Tagel has consistently demonstrated academic growth, as seen in its top-performing results:
- 1975 E.C.: Highest score was 2.6
- 1976 E.C.: Highest score rose to 3.6
- 1977 E.C.: Highest score reached 3.8
- 1989 E.C.: Achieved a perfect 4.00
A Mother of Heroes and Professionals
Tagel is more than just a school; it is “The House of Us All”—a foundation where life paths are set. Its impact is truly global. There is hardly a sector or a region where the “Fruit of Tagel” cannot be found. The school has produced:
- Academia: Renowned teachers, senior researchers, and university leaders.
- Industry: Project managers and experts in various technical fields.
- Professional Services: Highly respected leaders in Health, Politics, Business, Banking, and Insurance.
The Current Challenge: A Call to Action
Despite its glorious history, Tagel Secondary School is currently facing a critical infrastructure crisis. Many classrooms have deteriorated below standard, leading to:
- Severe classroom overcrowding.
- A decline in the quality of education.
- Increased student repetition rates.
Our Vision for the Future
To restore the school to its former glory, we have embarked on an ambitious project to build a G+2 building with 15 modern classrooms. While the foundation work has been completed, construction has currently paused due to budget constraints.
We are now mobilizing all stakeholders—alumni, the community, and partners—to help us replace old mud-walled classrooms and administrative blocks with modern facilities. This execution plan is our roadmap to ensuring that Tagel continues to produce the leaders of tomorrow.
