Tagel Secondary School offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Certificate Examination (EHEECE). Our programs are divided into three main stages to ensure a smooth transition from general knowledge to specialized expertise.

General Secondary Education (Grades 9 & 10)

Before specializing, all students undergo a rigorous general education program. This stage is designed to provide a broad foundation in sciences, humanities, and languages.

  • Objective: To identify student interests and strengths.

  • Key Focus: Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Social Studies.

  • Practical Skills: Introduction to Information Technology and Physical Education.



Upon entering Grade 11, students choose one of two specialized streams based on their academic performance and career aspirations.

A. Natural Science Stream

Ideal for students pursuing Engineering, Medicine, Technology, and Applied Research.

  • Core Focus: In-depth study of the physical laws and biological systems.

  • Specialized Subjects: * Physics: Mechanics and Electromagnetism.

    • Chemistry: Atomic structure and Organic chemistry.

    • Biology: Genetics and Human Physiology.

    • Agriculture: Sustainable food systems and soil science.

  • Supporting Subjects: Advanced Mathematics, IT, English, and Amharic.

B. Social Science Stream

Ideal for students pursuing Law, Business, Journalism, Public Administration, and Social Work.

  • Core Focus: Understanding human behavior, economic systems, and historical evolution.

  • Specialized Subjects:

    • Geography: Spatial analysis and demographic studies.

    • History: National and global political transformations.

    • Economics: Micro/Macroeconomic theories and development.
